Bridgestone Tire Company operates a rubber research facility in Mesa where they extract latex from a natural occurring desert plant called guayule. Bob White will provide an overview of the facility's operations and the environmental impacts and programs associated with its activities.
 

CAA 112r Risk Management Plan Rule Changes

On January 13, 2013, EPA published revised rules for the Risk Management Program requirements found in section 112r of the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments. These proposed changes were designed to prevent catastrophic incidents such as the West, Texas explosion of 2013. The proposed rule has been very controversial and has resulted in many delays. Eddie Al-Rayes from Trinity Consultants will present on the current status of the this final rule and Congressional actions currently underway to further delay its implementation.
