Electronic Manifesting
David Janke, Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Waste Quality Programs Division
On July 1st of this year, the EPA will be implementing an electronic hazardous waste manifesting system. This effort began in 2012 with the passage of the Hazardous Waste Electronic Manifest Establishment Act. Since then the EPA and state environmental agencies have been working to develop and implement this system. It is anticipated that automating the nation's hazardous waste tracking system will significantly reduce the administrative burden associated with hazardous waste shipping. David Janke from ADEQ will discuss this new system, how it will work and what will be expected of hazardous waste generators in the future.
